Sri Swami Charitra Saramrit English Translation Chapter 17

Shree Swami Samarth

Shree Swami Samarth, my salutations to all Swami devotees. Today we are going to learn about Sri Swami Charitra Saramrit Chapter Seventeen.

As we have seen in the previous chapter, Swamisuta came to Mumbai and established Sri Swami Samarth’s Math. Abandoning his well-to-do world, he engaged himself in the service of Sri Swami. and conquered his enemies. Ever absorbed in self-satisfied attitude, he lost all kinds of memories. Without bringing any kind of fear in his mind, he was always happy.

He blessed his life by always chanting the name of Sri Swami and chanting his charitra kirtan. People were laughing at Swamisuta for giving up his rich world and becoming a saint. But he never cared about people.

Swamisuta’s mother was very sad because of these things. Swamisuta’s mother i.e. Kakubai comes to Bombay to mourn her son’s loss. Seeing her son in agony, she literally rolled on the ground, beating her chest and wailing.

Seeing his mother’s grief, Suta recovered himself and explained to Kakubais with love. He said even if I am born in your womb, salvation is only at the feet of Sadguru. I am blessed by this Tribhuvani, Mother. Thus telling the stories of charity, the mother was explained in a melodious tone.

At that time there was a famous, great saint named Yashwantrao Bhosekar. He was also known as Dev Mamledar by people. Kakubai told him about such behavior of Swamisuta and asked him to explain. Then the Deva Mamledar laughed and replied that we are incapable of these things. Hearing this answer, Kakubai returned to Akkalkot feeling sad. And requests the Swami not to make saint to Swamisuta. But Sri Swami ignores her.

Here Swamisut in Mumbai, many Sri Swami devotees form. He preached to many Hindus, Parsis and people of many castes. Since Sri Swami’s Math was in Kamathipura, a devotee offered her place to Swamisuta. And established a monastery there.

Seeing such absolute devotion of Swamisuta, other Sri Swami Sevaks hated him. Sometimes he even went to the extent of insulting Swamisuta. His ex-wife named Tara also used to trouble him. But Swamisuta never regretted it.

The Swamisutas first started celebrating Shree Swami Jayanti in Shaka 1793, Phalgun Trayodasis. At that time a rekhi (astrologer) named Nagarkar Nana Joshi had come to Mumbai after hearing the glory of Swamisuta. Then Swamisuta asked Joshi to make a pamphlet of Sri Swami and offer it at the feet of Sri Swami

Along with Swamisuta, Joshi also became absorbed in Sri Swami Bhakti. Swamisuta made many such disciples. After a few days, Joshi Buwa came to Akkalkot to make birth chart and offer them at the feet of Shri Swami.

Sri Swami is very happy to see the birth chart. And Shri Swami asks Joshi to play the nagara (a drum). Joshi is ecstatic to command a devotee like him. Joshi presented the truth about Sri Swami’s incarnation in the paper. Sri Swami first appeared in a village called Chheli i.e. in Punjab. There is disagreement among the devotees about this but Sri Swami knows everything. And Swamisut says that this day is suitable for Sri Swami’s birth anniversary.

Once Sri Swami Samarth is in the palace, Swamisut comes to Akkalkot to have Sri’s darshan. And at that time, except on Thursdays, men were prohibited from entering the palace for darshan. Swamisut resolves that will not touch food and water without having darshan of Sri Swami. Fasting like this, alternates three days.

Craving to see Sri Swami, Swamisut goes in front of the palace and starts a loving bhajan. Rani hears this bhajan filled with Karunrasa inside. and orders the soldiers not to prevent Swamisuta from entering the palace any longer. And respectfully the soldiers bring Swamisuta to the temple. And Swamisuta runs and anoints Sri Charan with tears of love. Sri Swami is also happy to see Neejasuta.

As soon as some Servents hated Swamisuta. One day he was so engrossed in Sri Swami Bhajan that he did not realize that he was dancing in front of Sri Swami with khadawa (sandle) on his feet. Seeing this, some of the servants fell on Swamisuta. And threw away the khadawa from their feet. Sri Swami did not differentiate between devotees and nijasuts, so Sri Swami said that they should not have been wear khadawa.

So Swamisut is heartbroken. And from Akkalkot Tadak they come to Mumbai. Sri Swami tries his best to stop them but they don’t listen. Swamisut passes out of mind and thus becomes very ill. This news reaches the ears of Sri Swami.

Then Shri Swami orders the servants that someone should bring the suta here, if not, put it in a box and bring it. But, because of humiliation at Akkalkot, they never returned to Akkalkot again. Again Sri Swami sent Servents to bring back Sutas. But nothing came from Swamisut. Finally, Sri Swami sent a message that if you do not come, I will fire a cannon and blow up the hut. But regardless of life they did not return to Akkalkot.

And Sri Swami suddenly started doing Leela. They bathed but did not smell. did not eat No one to talk to. They started crying on the floor. No one knew why Shri Swami was doing this. And news comes from Bombay that Swamisut has died. And on that day, the whole city is filled with gloom.

Kakubai reaches Mumbai after hearing the news of her son’s death. And then comes Akkalkota. And Sri Swami mourns for his son and asks why Sut died so prematurely when he was your son. If you cannot save him, how can others be saved? Then Sri Swami says we begged him to come back but he disobeyed the order and time took this opportunity to drag him away. Sri Swami consoles Kakubai by telling her how great Swamisut was.

Later Swamisuta’s seat in Mumbai became vacant. Now Sevakari started asking Sri Swami who would be the officer of that throne. Thus the author has narrated the life biography of Sri Swamisuta. And here ends the seventeenth chapter of Sri Swami Charitra Saramrita. And the author of the book assures that this chapter is the best and the greatest of all chapters.
